Setting

How does the setting affect the mood of the story?  What would be advantages to living in this society?

  1. the setting affects the mood because the setting is where the mood takes place, like if it was raining you would be in a gloomy mood. the advantge would be having a super fast jet car.

  11. I think you guys are missing the boat on this. The setting affects the mood greatly in this book. If you remember when we first began this book, I pointed out that darkness or some reference to the dark had been made over forty times. How does the darkness make you feel? When you walk into a dark alley do you always feel safe? The overall setting of this book is a world in which intelligence, creativity, diversity, and uniqueness are unneeded and done away with. That setting affects the mood tremendously. I am fearful of a world like that. Bradbury creates a very dismal, dark, and depressing mood through the setting of the book.
I can't think of any advantages, personally, to a world such as that. I guess if you were a true sports fanatic you might enjoy it. But what happens when you can no longer play games?
